Whether you've danced in front of our stage or you're just hearing about us now—welcome. We're Sabrosas Latin Orchestra, a San Diego-based nonprofit on a mission to celebrate Latin musical traditions, spotlight women in the arts, and make live music accessible to everyone.

Since 2019, we've brought high-quality, culturally rooted music experiences to audiences across San Diego County. Through school concerts, community events, and professional performances, we connect people of all ages to the richness of Latin music—and to each other.

We believe everyone should see themselves reflected in the arts. That’s why representation, outreach, and cultural pride are baked into everything we do. And in 2025, your support helped us do even more.

2025 in Numbers

  • 32,553 students served through school and educational programs
  • 8,701 live audience members
  • 38 live performances across San Diego and beyond
  • 25 professional artists employed
  • 11 in-school performances at local schools
  • 5 free community concerts
  • 2 bilingual library concerts

Whether it was a packed street fair or a classroom full of curious students, we showed up with heart, history, and horns.

Community Performances

Sabrosas Latin Orchestra—the first and only all-female salsa band of its kind in the region—hit the stage all year long at events like:

  • San Diego Latin Film Festival Closing Night Party
  • Adams Avenue Street Fair
  • Long Beach Puerto Rican Festival
  • Chula Vista Library Series
  • Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center
  • California Center for the Arts' “Music in the Plaza” Series

From La Jolla to Long Beach, these shows connected generations and cultures through high-energy music rooted in Latin traditions and full of fun.

Music in the Classroom: Education Programs

We know the power of music goes way beyond entertainment. That’s why we brought it straight into local schools to reach children around San Diego County.

In-School Concerts

  • Reached over 4,100 students across 11 schools
  • Delivered 24 bilingual (English/Spanish) performances
  • Focused on rhythm, music history, and cultural context
  • Made available at low or no cost thanks to support from Classics4Kids and Musicians Performance Trust Fund

Educational Orchestra Concert: Música y Baile

In March, we teamed up with Classics4Kids Orchestra and special guest Manny Cepeda for an immersive celebration of Puerto Rican music. Through dance, storytelling, and percussion, over 33,000 students engaged in-person and virtually—68% from under-resourced schools.

Partnerships & Support

We couldn’t do it alone. Thanks to support from:

  • California Arts Council
  • County of San Diego
  • Classics4Kids
  • Musicians Performance Trust Fund

...we kept our programming free or low-cost for 92% of our audiences. Nearly all of our shows were in public spaces—schools, libraries, festivals—where people could show up as they are and feel seen.

Why It Matters

We’re not just playing music. Our performances are opportunities for education, fun, and broadened horizons:

  • Every single program featured Latin musical heritage
  • Every performance put women front and center in a male-dominated genre
  • 29 performances were youth-focused
  • Performances spanned 15+ neighborhoods and brought together audiences across generations, languages, and backgrounds

When you buy tickets or tell your friends about us, you're supporting a broader mission to make Latin culture and music visible, accessible, and alive across San Diego.

Looking Ahead

In 2026, we’re planning to:

  • Expand into more schools, especially in underserved areas
  • Launch a special Spanish Heritage Month program
  • Keep employing and mentoring women artists
  • Grow our partnerships to amplify impact even further
  • And yes, keep bringing the sabor to stages big and small!
If you’ve ever clapped, danced, donated, or told a friend about us, you’re part of this movement. You’ve helped us bring culture, joy, and rhythm to thousands. Let’s keep it going! ¡Nos vemos!
